Gear notes — not a storefront
These are tools that show up in the guides when a small purchase is the sensible next step. We don’t sell anything. Links go to Amazon.ca. If you buy through them, Wet Coast Homes earns a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Buy only if the problem is real. A $20 humidity meter often answers more than a $300 gadget.
1. Indoor humidity meter (TempPro TP50)
View on Amazon.caWhat it’s for: Quick read on whether a room, basement, or crawl is actually damp — not just “feels musty.”
When to buy: Before you buy a dehumidifier, or after a wet week when you’re not sure if the first floor smell is moisture or something else. Place it for a day in the problem room and a dry closet for a baseline.
When to skip: If you already know the space stays wet and the water source is obvious (gutters, grading, leaks).
2. Flexible downspout extension
View on Amazon.caWhat it’s for: Moving roof water several metres away from the foundation instead of dumping it at the footing.
When to buy: After you clear gutters and still see pooling next to the house, or before the fall rains if extensions are missing or crushed.
When to skip: If water already leaves the foundation cleanly, or the real issue is a buried drain that needs a different fix.
3. Dryer vent cleaning kit (Bluesea, ~20 ft)
View on Amazon.caWhat it’s for: Clearing lint from a normal house-length dryer run so the dryer works harder less and the fire risk drops.
When to buy: Clothes take longer to dry, the exterior flap barely opens, or you haven’t cleaned the line in years and the path is short and accessible.
When to skip: Long, crushed, or unknown chases (especially multi-unit buildings) — hire a pro instead of fighting a brush kit.
Prices and stock change on Amazon. These are examples, not the only good options. Fix water at the source first; gear is second.
